Publication Ethics
1. Overview
Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (CAET) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical practice in scholarly publishing.
The journal adheres to internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
CAET supports ethical practices across research-based, practice-based, and community-engaged work in the fields of creative arts, therapy, education, and health.
2. Responsibilities Of Authors
Authors submitting to CAET are expected to:
- Submit original work that is not under consideration elsewhere
- Ensure proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources
- Avoid plagiarism, duplicate publication, and data fabrication
- .Accurately represent methods, processes, and findings
- Disclose any conflicts of interest

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work complies with relevant ethical standards in both research and practice contexts.
3. Research Involving Human Participants
CAET recognizes that many submissions involve work with individuals, groups, or communities in therapeutic, educational, or artistic contexts.
Authors must ensure that all work involving human participants is conducted in accordance with appropriate ethical standards.
Where applicable, authors should:
- Obtain informed consent from participants
- Ensure the confidentiality and anonymity of participants
- Respect the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of individuals and communities
- Follow relevant institutional, professional, or cultural ethical guidelines
For research conducted within institutional settings, authors should indicate whether ethical approval was obtained from an appropriate review body (e.g., institutional ethics committee), where applicable.
For practice-based or community-based work, authors should demonstrate ethical awareness and responsibility appropriate to the context.
Ethical considerations must be explicitly addressed in the manuscript where relevant.
4. Responsibilities Of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
- Making fair, unbiased, and independent editorial decisions
- Evaluating submissions based on academic merit and relevance
- Ensuring that all manuscripts undergo appropriate peer review
- Maintaining confidentiality of submissions
- Addressing ethical concerns or allegations appropriately
Editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial or institutional interests.
5. Responsibilities Of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to:
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback
- Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts
- Identify relevant published work not cited
- Declare any conflicts of interest
- Refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage
6. Peer Review Integrity
CAET operates a single-blind peer review process.
Primary research articles and scholarly contributions are subject to external peer review by independent reviewers with relevant expertise.
The journal ensures that peer review is conducted in a fair, transparent, and academically rigorous manner.
7. Plagiarism And Misconduct
CAET does not tolerate:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Duplicate submission or publication
- Misrepresentation of authorship
All allegations of misconduct will be investigated in accordance with established editorial procedures.
8. AI And Emerging Technologies
The use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) must be:
- Clearly disclosed
- Used responsibly
AI tools:
- Cannot be listed as authors
- Do not replace author accountability
9. Conflicts Of Interest
All participants in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, and editors—are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their work.
Authors
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that may be perceived to influence the research or its interpretation.
This may include, but is not limited to:
- Funding sources
- Institutional affiliations
- Financial interests or sponsorship
- Personal or professional relationships
All sources of support should be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.
Reviewers
Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest before agreeing to review a manuscript.
Reviewers should not participate in the review process if:
- They have a personal or professional relationship with the authors
- They have competing academic or financial interests
- They feel unable to provide an objective assessment
Editors
Editors must:
- Recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists
- Ensure that submissions are evaluated fairly and independently
- Avoid any influence from personal, institutional, or commercial interests
Where necessary, an alternative editor will be assigned.
Transparency
All disclosed conflicts of interest will be handled transparently and in accordance with the journal’s ethical standards.
Failure to disclose relevant conflicts may result in rejection, correction, or retraction of the published work.
10. Confidentiality
All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents.
Editors and reviewers must not disclose information about submissions to anyone not directly involved in the editorial process.
11. Post-publication Policies
CAET maintains the integrity of the scholarly record through established post-publication practices:
- Article Retraction — for serious ethical or scientific issues
- Erratum & Corrigendum — for corrections to published articles
- Article Removal — in rare legal circumstances
12. Complaints And Ethical Concerns
Concerns regarding publication ethics may be raised with the editorial office.
All complaints will be handled:
- Fairly
- Confidentially
- In accordance with journal policies
