For Reviewers

Overview
Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (CAET) relies on the expertise and commitment of reviewers to ensure the quality, rigor, and relevance of published work. We greatly value the contribution of our reviewers in supporting the development of the field across education, therapy, and arts in health.
Peer Review Model
CAET operates a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are anonymized.
All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening (desk review). Manuscripts deemed suitable are evaluated by independent experts in the field, including both Editorial Board members and external reviewers. The journal ensures that peer review includes reviewers external to the Editorial Board in order to maintain academic independence and integrity.
Typically, each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers. Final editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editors based on reviewer reports.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback
  • Evaluate the manuscript’s:
    • originality and contribution to the field
    • conceptual and methodological rigor
    • clarity, structure, and coherence
    • relevance to CAET’s aims and scope
  • Offer specific and actionable suggestions for improvement 
  • Indicate whether the manuscript should be:
    • accepted
    • revised (minor or major)
    • rejected
  • Identify any ethical concerns, including plagiarism, duplicate submission, or inappropriate use of materials 
  • Maintain professional and respectful language in all comments
Confidentiality and Ethics
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents.
Reviewers must:
  • Not share or distribute the manuscript or its content
  • Not use unpublished material for their own research 
  • Avoid revealing their identity within the review report
Any suspected ethical issues should be reported to the Editorial Manager.
CAET follows internationally recognized publication ethics standards and expects reviewers to adhere to these principles.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have a potential conflict of interest, including:
  • Personal or professional relationships with the authors 
  • Institutional affiliation overlap 
  • Direct academic competition or collaboration
If uncertain, reviewers should consult the Editorial Manager before accepting the assignment.
Review Process
  1. Invitation to review 
  2. Acceptance or decline of the invitation 
  3. Completion of the review within the requested timeframe 
  4. Submission of the review report via the journal system 
  5. Editorial decision based on reviewer reports
Reviewers are encouraged to respond promptly to invitations and to request an extension if additional time is needed.
Review Criteria
As part of the evaluation, reviewers may consider:
  • Originality and novelty 
  • Significance and contribution to the field 
  • Theoretical and/or practical relevance 
  • Methodological soundness (where applicable) 
  • Quality of presentation and structure 
  • Clarity of language
Review reports should include:
  • A brief summary of the manuscript 
  • Major comments (key issues to address) 
  • Minor comments (suggestions for improvement)
Recognition and Contribution
CAET recognizes the important contribution of reviewers to the scholarly community. Reviewers may receive:
  • Acknowledgement in the journal 
  • Opportunities for continued collaboration 
  • Invitations to participate in journal-related initiatives
